Bell Sports Inc. has issued a bicycle helmet recall for their Bell Slope Adult Helmets. The recall, affecting about 11,000 units, is due to a safety concern where the strap anchor may dislodge, compromising the helmet’s effectiveness in a crash and posing a risk of head injury.

Product Description
The recall involves the Bell Slope adult bicycle helmets, identifiable by an inner sticker with the model name “Slope” and code B1161X. The helmets come in dark green and light blue and are sized for adults.


Sales Information
These helmets were sold at Target, Fred Meyer, Academy, and other stores nationwide, as well as various websites, from January 2023 through April 2023. The price point for these helmets was around $30.
Safety Hazard Identified
The recall addresses a defect where the strap anchor can become dislodged under force, violating CPSC federal safety standards for bicycle helmets. This defect could lead to inadequate protection in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of head injury.
Recall Remedy and Consumer Action
Consumers are advised to immediately cease using the recalled helmets and contact Bell Sports for a refund. For the refund process, consumers should cut off the helmet straps, send photos of the destroyed helmet to consumersupport-bell@bellhelmets.com, and then safely dispose of it.
