Homedics Personal Massager Recall Due to Burn and Fire Hazard

Product Description
The massager recall involves Homedics Therapist Select Percussion Personal Massagers, model number HHP-715. These massagers are designed with a 120 VAC, 60 HZ power cord, and are black, featuring a handle, housing, and a massage head with four interchangeable massage heads. The brand “Homedics” is visibly printed on the side of the barrel.


Sales Information
Approximately 46,000 units were sold in the U.S., with an additional 41,000 in Canada. They were available at Macy’s, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Lowe’s, JCPenney, The Home Depot, and other nationwide stores, as well as online platforms including Homedics.com, Macys.com, BJs.com, Lowes.com, HomeDepot.com, and Amazon.com. The products were sold from September 2020 through November 2023, priced around $100.
Safety Hazard Identified
There is a risk of the massagers overheating while charging, which poses fire and burn hazards. There have been 17 reports of the massagers overheating, including one incident where a consumer suffered a burn on their thumb.

Manufacturing Details
The recalled products were manufactured in China. It includes only those with manufacturing dates through the end of 2022 and prior. The date code, found on a sticker under the product’s barrel, indicates the manufacturing date. Date codes are in the format WWYY, where WW is the sequential week of the year and YY is the last two digits of the year. Products with a YY of 20, 21, or 22 are included in this recall.
Incident Reports
There have been 17 reports of the massagers overheating, including one report of a burn injury to a consumer’s thumb.
