This bike recall focuses on Ascend Cabrillo and Minaret Electric Bikes. Featuring model numbers R7583BPS, R7585BPS (Cabrillo), and R7586BPS (Minaret), these bikes exhibit distinctive branding. The Cabrillo comes in sand or gray with a rear storage rack, while the Minaret is available in black with red and gray accents or a step-through frame style. Both models, adorned with the “Ascend” label on the downtube, integrate an electric assist motor. Their uniqueness is further accentuated by the model number and “Pacific Cycle” mark on the service label above the bottom bracket.

The hazard arises from a poorly assembled wiring harness in the bike’s lithium-ion battery charging system, posing a significant risk of overheating and fire during charging. This flaw has already led to incidents, underscoring the urgency of addressing it.

For safety, consumers must immediately cease using and unplug the affected electric bikes.
