Visual Comfort & Co. has issued a ceiling fan recall for its Maverick Coastal 60-inch outdoor fans on January 25, 2024. This action follows reports that the fan blades can crack or break and potentially cause impact injuries. About 6,400 units sold in the U.S. and an additional 200 in Canada are affected by this recall.

Product Description
The recalled product is the Maverick Coastal 60-inch outdoor ceiling fans by Visual Comfort & Co. These fans feature a three-blade design and are available in white and black finishes. The model number, 3MGMR60XXX, is located on a white label at the top of the fan motor.


Sales Information
These ceiling fans were sold at Home Depot, Circa Lighting, and other stores nationwide. They were also available online at Amazon.com, Build.com, Wayfair.com, and other websites from January 2021 through November 2023. The fans were priced at approximately $850.
Safety Hazard Identified from Ceiling Fan Recall
The main safety concern is that the fan’s blade can crack or break and fall off the unit. This defect poses an impact injury hazard to consumers.
Recall Remedy and Consumer Action
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled ceiling fans. Visual Comfort & Co. is offering free replacement blades to all affected consumers. If consumers are unable to install the new blades themselves, they should arrange for a certified electrician to install the repair kit. Consumers can then send the installation invoice to Visual Comfort for reimbursement of the service cost in full.
