DECEMBER HOME® Light Bulb Recall Due to Lacerations

In a recent announcement, DECEMBER HOME® has initiated a light bulb recall for their replacement light bulbs after discovering a significant safety hazard. The recall, issued on February 1, 2024, addresses the risk posed by the inclusion of 3V bulbs, meant for battery-powered fixtures, in packages labeled for 120V versions. This mix-up can lead to the bulbs bursting when used in a 120V fixture, creating a laceration hazard to users.

The light bulb recall specifically targets DECEMBER HOME branded candelabra style incandescent replacement light bulbs. These bulbs feature a metallic threaded base paired with a glass shell, and the packaging prominently displays the December Home branding. They are available in packages containing one, two, or three light bulbs.

Sales Information

Approximately 19,200 units are included in this recall. The bulbs were sold exclusively at Meijer stores across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Wisconsin from October 2023 through November 2023. The prices ranged from $1.50 for single or double bulb packages to $2.00 for the three-bulb packages.

Safety Hazard Identified for Light Bulb Recall

The light bulb recall hazard arises when a 3V bulb, inadvertently packed as a 120V bulb, is used in a 120V fixture. This mismatch can cause the bulb to burst, posing a risk of laceration to consumers.

Recall Remedy and Consumer Action

Consumers are urged to immediately cease using the affected light bulbs and return them to any Meijer store for a full refund.
