Expanded Daikin Recall of Evaporator Coil Drain Pans
Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing L.P. (DCT) has expanded its Daikin recall of evaporator coil drain pans due to a fire hazard. These drain pans, found in various furnace systems, can overheat, melt, and deform, increasing the risk of fire. This recall update follows previous recalls and includes additional units that were initially mislabeled.

Product Description
The expanded Daikin drain pan recall encompasses about 3,600 additional evaporator coil drain pans used in certain furnace systems. These units, manufactured between January 2019 and February 2020, were incorrectly marked with 2018 serial numbers. The recall affects both condensing and certain non-condensing furnace systems, with the coil placed above the furnace.


Sales Information
These drain pans were sold at heating and cooling equipment dealers nationwide from January 2019 through November 2021. Prices ranged from $200 to $1,200 per unit, with the possibility of being sold as part of a bundled product or separately as a replacement.
Safety Hazard Identified
DCT has received 31 reports of fire incidents involving the drain pans, including five reports since the reannouncement of the Daikin drain pan recall in July 2022. These incidents led to one case of smoke inhalation and several instances of significant fire and smoke damage to residences.

Consumers should immediately contact DCT to determine if their unit is included in this recall and to register for a free repair by a qualified technician. DCT is proactively reaching out to all registered consumers whose gas furnace systems might be affected.
Manufacturing Details
The recalled evaporator coils were manufactured by Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing L.P. (formerly Goodman Manufacturing Company L.P.) in Houston, Texas.
Incident Reports
Since the initial recall, there have been five additional reports of fires associated with these drain pans, resulting in one smoke inhalation injury and several reports of property damage.
